During Dry Season (May - September) for exploring Kerinci Seblat National Park and to climb Mt. Kerinci Volcano. To explore the Minangkabau highland can be done all year long.

Explore the Sumatra's largest national parks the Kerinci Seblat National Park, the home to rhinos, tigers, elephants, bears and orangutan. We will trekking up the highest peak in western Indonesia and the highest volcano in South East Asia Mt. Kerinci (3,805 m above sea level), while enjoying the magnificent scenery. The Lake Kerinci, the highest altitude volcanic lake in Indonesia, is perfect place to watch the bird life: hornbills, banded-broadbills and drongos, and many more …

 

For those who want to experience the colourful cultures of the Minangkabau, the indigenous people of West Sumatra, we will take you to the province’s center of culture and tourism, the Bukittinggi, nestled in the highlands north of the provincial capital of Padang at about 930 m above sea level. This cooled climate town is surrounded by three volcanoes: Tandikat, Singgalang and Merapi, picturesque valleys and lakes and considered by many tourists to be the most hospitable town in all of Sumatra.

 

 

Itineraries:

 

Mt. Kerinci Volcano Trekking

Duration     : 05 DAYS / 04 NIGHTS

Start/Finish : PADANG AIRPORT

Grade        : MODERATE - CHALLENGING

 

DAY 01: PADANG – KERSIK TUO VILLAGE

Upon arrival at Padang airport, drive to Kersik Tuo village. Overnight in Kersik Tuo home stay (L, D).

 

DAY 02: KRESIK TUO VILLAGE – BASE CAMP MOUNT KERINCI (3.100 m)

Start early morning walk to the Kerinci Seblat National Park Entrance Gate. Continue by 4-5 hours trekking to base camp (shelter) at 3.100 M asl. Overnight in tent (B, L, D).

 

DAY 03: SUMMIT of MOUNT KERINCI – KERSIK TUO VILLAGE – PADANG

Early morning climbing the summit of Mount Kerinci (3,805 M). Return to Kresik Tuo Village. Directly drive back to Padang. Overnight at a hotel in Padang (B, L)

 

DAY 04: PADANG - BUKITTINGGI - PADANG

Drive to Bukittinggi of the Minangkabau Highland visiting: traditional hand weaving and wood carving process, Sianok Canyon, Fort de Kock, Minangkabau historical Museum, traditional market. Return to Padang (B, L).

 

DAY 05:  PADANG DEPARTURE

Transfer to the airport for flight to your next destination (B).

West Sumatra Cultural Tour

Duration     : 05 DAYS / 04 NIGHTS

DAY 01: PADANG – BUKITTINGGI

Upon your arrival at Padang Airport, drive to Bukit Tinggi at Minangkabau Highland. En route stop at Lembah Anai Nature Reserve to see waterfalls, wild orchid and giant Rafflesia flower, traditional hand weaving and wood carving process. Before check into a hotel we visit Sianyok Canyon and Japanese Tunnel, Fort De Kock and Museum (B, L, D)

 

DAY 02: LAKE MANINJAU

Take a scenic drive to Lake Maninjau, one of Sumatra’s beautiful mountain crater lakes. Enroute stop at a silver smith work village and enjoy the beauties of the highland. Trekking around the lake which offer an excellent view (B, L, D).

 

DAY 03: HARAU VALLEY

Proceed drive to Harau Valley passing the Harau Valley to the heart of traditional Minangkabau country. Visit the Fort Van Der Cappelen, the traditional house of Minagkabau People etc. Afternoon return to Bukittinggi (B, L, D).

 

DAY 04: BUKITTINGGI – DANAU SINGAKARAK – PADANG    

Drive eastern to Danau Singkarak, the largest West Sumatra crater lake and 2 others beautiful large lakes. Proceed drive to Padang. Overnight hotel in Padang (B).

 

DAY 05:  PADANG DEPARTURE

Transfer you to the airport for your flight to your next destination (B).
