Situated among the
magnificent islands of Lesser Sunda (Nusa Tenggara), Flores offers
almost anything you want see: Unique cultures at traditional
megalithic villages, Mt. Kelimutu volcano with its unique three
colors lake, wildlife and marine life.
The Portuguese who
reached this island in the 15th Century gave the name Flores.
'Flores' means flowers, not by the Flowers grow on the land, but
beneath the sea, coral, fishes and other marine lifes. The most
beautiful coral reefs occur on the northern coast and western of the
Island. Flores is 1.5 hours from Bali by Air.
The most magnificent
site is the three colored lakes of Kelimutu volcano. Each lake is a
different color: blue, green and black. Other attractions include
spectacular hand-woven textiles of Maumere, Ende-Lio, Ngada, the
traditional megalithic village of Bena and other traditional
villages in Ngada regency (Central Flores), and "Komodo dragons".
This Island is home to hundreds of different ethnic groups who speak
scores of languages, and is a sort of transition point between the
Malay and Papuan races.

MAUMERE
Depart from Bali to
Maumere on Flores Island. Meet and transfer to a resort for your
accommodation. Afternoon free program (L,D).
DAY 02: MAUMERE -
KELIMUTU - MAUMERE
Early morning drive up
to Kelimutu mountain. Proceed walking and easy ascending to the
summit of Kelimutu volcano to see the beautiful three colors lake.
Proceed down to Moni village for hand woven clothes and traditional
Lionese houses. Continue drive to Wolosoko for return to Maumere
with stops en route. Overnight at the resort in Maumere (B,L,D).
DAY 03: MAUMERE
Full day tours around
Maumere visiting the houses built on stilts over the sea at Wuring
village, the museum of Flores royal family history at Ledalero
Catholic Seminary, antique hand woven clothes, stagedeon fossils,
etc. Proceed to Sikka village the center of "Ikat" weaving and also
to see the old church built in the 16th Century. Return to hotel in
Maumere (B,L,D).
DAY 04: MAUMERE
DEPARTURE
Transfer to the
Airport for your flight back to Bali or to next destination (B).

Maumere on Flores Island. Meet and transfer to a resort for your

DAY 02: MAUMERE -
LARANTUKA - LEWOLEBA (LEMBATA)
Drive east to
Larantuka rown and board on wooden boat to cruise to Lowoleba -
Lembata/Lomblen Island. Overnight at a simple accommodation (B,L,D).
DAY 03: LEWOLEBA -
LAMALERA
Proceed cruise the sea
to Lamalera - a village of Whale-Hunters in the South of the Island
to join the Whale hunters and observe the hunting in traditional
ways. Overnight at villagers' houses in Lamalera (B,L,D).
DAY 04: LAMALERA -
LOWOLEBA
Another opportunity to
observe the whale hunting activities learn their ways of hunting,
customs and listening to their stories of conducting whale hunting.
After lunch boating back to Lowoleba. Accommodation at a simple
accommodation (B,L,D).
DAY 05: LEWOLEBA -
LARANTUKA - MAUMERE
Cruise back to
Larantuka and proceed drive to Maumere with stops en ruote.
Overnight at the resort (B,L,D).

DAY 02: MAUMERE -
DETUSOKO
Drive to Detusoko with
stops en routes at Ledalero Catholic Seminary to see the museums of
royal family, antique hand woven clothes, stagedeon fossils, etc.
Proceed to see the weaving process of "Ikat" at Sikka village and an
old church built in the 16th Century. Continue to Detusoko.
Overnight at a missionary Guest Houses (B,L,D).
DAY 03: DETUSOKO -
BAJAWA
Early morning drive up
to Kelimutu mountain. Proceed walking and easy ascending to the
summit of Kelimutu volcano ro see the beautiful three colors lake.
Proceed down to Moni village for hand woven clothes and traditional
Lionese houses. Continue drive to Bajawa with stop at Boawae -
village of Nagekeo tribes to observe their tradition and culture.
Proceed to Wogo - another traditional Bajawanese village through
scenic road where you can enjoy beautiful panorama of the valley
with sea as the background. Accommodation at s small hotel in Bajawa
(B,L,D).
DAY 04: BAJAWA -
RIUNG
Visit Bena a
megalithic village. Of possible we stop to see Mt. Inerie, active
volcano. Proceed drive to the north to Riung with another stop at
natural hot spring at Soa. Accommodation at a small hotel in Riung (B,L,D).
DAY 05: RIUNG
Trekking through
National Park to see the activities of the Giant Lizard - Varanus
Riungensis and other native surroundings. After lunch take a boat
trip to explore the spectacular sea garden of seventeen islands.
Return to hotel (B,L,D).
DAY 06: RIUNG -
MAUMERE
Drive back to Maumere
through north coastal road with several stops en route. Overnight at
a hotel in Maumere (B,L,D).
DAY 07: MAUMERE

ARRIVAL
Depart from Bali to
Labuan Bajo on Flores Island. Meet and transfer to a hotel for your
accommodation. Afternoon free program (L,D).
DAY 02: LABUANBAJO
- RUTENG
We start the overland
journey of Flores Island. Drive Ruteng where major Mangarainese
tribe dwelt. En route stops at Lembor and Cancar to enjoy the
beautiful panorama of rice fields and the natures of Flores Island.
We also visit Ruteng Puu, a Manggarainese traditional village to see
their unique slander-shaped houses. Overnight at a simple hotel in
Ruteng (B,L,D).
DAY 03: RUTENG -
BAJAWA
Proceed drive east to
Bajawa, home of the Ngada and Nagekeo tribes. Stops en route at
Ranamese Lake. In Bajawa we attend attend dance performance of
Bajawanese in Boloji Village followed by cluster of Bamboo flute
concert music. Overnight at a small hotel in Bajawa (B,L,D).
DAY 04: BAJAWA FULL
DAY
Explore traditional
villages of Bajawa tribes such as Bena megalithic village, Masu,
Seso and Mude traditional villages. Realxing at a natural hotspring
in Mengeruda. Back to the hotel in Bajawa for your accommodation (B,L,D).
DAY 05: BAJAWA -
DETUSOKO
Continue the scenic
drive overland to Detusoko passing beautiful panorama of the valley
and the sea. Stops at Wogo traditional Bajawanese village and
Boawae Viilage of Nagekeo tribes to observe their tradition and
culture. We will also visit the Onekore village in ende, the
center of Endenese "Ikat" hand-weaving. Proceed to Detusoko.
Accommodation at Missionary GuestHouses (B,L,D).
